Student Policies
Ancient Yoga Academy is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and professionally rigorous learning environment. The following policies apply to all students enrolled in AYA programmes.
1. Admission & Prerequisites
200-Hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training:
- Open to all adults aged 18 and above.
- No prior yoga teaching experience required, though regular personal practice is recommended.
- Applicants must have a genuine commitment to learning and sharing the practice of yoga.
300-Hour Integrated Yoga Therapy Training:
- Prerequisite: Completion of a recognised 200-hour yoga teacher training programme.
- Minimum 2 years of personal yoga practice and/or teaching experience recommended.
- Applicants must submit an application form detailing their background, motivation, and health history.
- Admission is subject to review by the Academic Director.
2. Attendance Requirements
- A minimum attendance of 80% is required for all contact hours in order to receive a certificate of completion.
- Students who miss more than 20% of contact hours must arrange make-up sessions with the faculty at the Academic Director's discretion.
- Students who cannot complete attendance requirements within the programme period may apply for a deferral.
3. Assessment & Graduation
200-Hour Programme:
- Written examination covering yoga philosophy, anatomy, and teaching methodology.
- Practical teaching assessment: a 30-minute taught class observed and evaluated by faculty.
- Attendance of a minimum 80% of programme hours.
300-Hour Yoga Therapy Programme:
- Written examination and case study submissions (minimum 5 documented client cases).
- Practical assessment: a full yoga therapy session conducted under faculty supervision.
- Minimum 30 hours of supervised client practice completed during the programme.
- Attendance of a minimum 80% of programme hours.
- All assessments must be passed before a certificate is issued.
4. Refund & Cancellation Policy
- Full refund (less a 10% administrative fee) if cancellation is made 30 or more days before programme commencement.
- 50% refund if cancellation is made 15–29 days before commencement.
- No refund for cancellations made fewer than 14 days before commencement.
- In the event AYA cancels a programme, students receive a full refund or the option to transfer to the next available intake.
5. Non-Discrimination & Inclusion
AYA welcomes students of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, age, nationality, disability, or sexual orientation. 6. Student Grievance Procedure
- Students with a concern about academic matters, faculty conduct, or programme quality should first raise the issue informally with the relevant faculty member.
- If unresolved, submit a written grievance to enquiry@ancientyogaacademy.com addressed to the Academic Director.
- Grievances will be acknowledged within 5 business days and reviewed within 30 days.
- Students may escalate unresolved grievances to IAYT (for yoga therapy matters) or to Yoga Alliance (for teacher training matters).
7. Code of Conduct for Students
- Students are expected to treat faculty, staff, and fellow students with respect and courtesy.
- Students must maintain confidentiality regarding information shared by clients during supervised practice.
- Misrepresentation of qualifications or academic dishonesty may result in dismissal from the programme without refund.
