Ancient Yoga Academy (AYA) is a Singapore-based school of classical yoga, yoga therapy, and Ayurvedic studies, established in 2015. With branches in Singapore and India and programmes conducted in more than 15 countries, AYA is one of Asia’s most established centres for authentic yoga education.
Our programmes are built on more than three decades of in-depth study by our founder,
Prashant Patel (M.A. Yoga, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500), drawing from Yoga, Ayurveda, Tantra, Tattva, and Siddha — the foundational sciences of traditional Indian health and philosophy.
AYA is affiliated with the SVYASA, AYTA and registered with Yoga Alliance USA as an RYS 200 school.
Vision Statement
To be a leading school of yoga therapy and classical yoga education in Asia, aligned with global professional standards, producing graduates who serve their communities with integrity, knowledge, and compassion.
Our Philosophy
At AYA, we believe yoga therapy is not simply about physical postures. It is a comprehensive, personalised approach to health and wellbeing that integrates asana, pranayama, meditation, mantra, yogic counselling, and Ayurvedic lifestyle principles. Our practitioners work within a therapeutic relationship, conducting individual assessments and designing personalised programmes — consistent with the professional scope of practice as defined by the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).
(Gross to Subtle)
Our Meditative Yoga practice encompasses a transformative journey that transcends mere physical exercises, leading us to a more profound and subtle realm. It emphasizes the importance of "how" you practice rather than simply "what" you practice.
Our Mission To educate, inspire, and empower students with the authentic teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda — fostering a deep understanding of holistic health and supporting the wellbeing of individuals and communities through evidence-informed, personalised yoga practices.”
School Governance & Academic Structure
Ancient Yoga Academy operates under the leadership of an academic committee responsible for curriculum design, programme quality, faculty standards, and student welfare.
AYA’s academic standards are developed in partnership with S-VYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Anusandhana Samsthana), a globally recognised yoga research university in Bangalore, India.
AYA is associated with S-VYASA (Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Centre), a renowned Yoga University in India, managing, promoting S-VYASA’s international curriculum and affiliate centres..
Our unique curriculum caters to all levels of students, novice to advanced, and in fact will help you to develop an authentic spiritual practice of your own if this is not an established part of your life already.
Our Masters’ extensive knowledge of Ayurveda combined with their understanding of Integrated Approach of Yoga Therapy enables them to work with various psychosomatic ailments.
We organize and conduct Community, School Programs and Stop Diabetes Movement (SDM) to educate and develop awareness of ancient yoga and ayurvedic principles to help in modern lifestyle, mental and physical health issues.
